Dozens of Sassa grant beneficiaries slept outside a Sassa office in Gugulethu on Tuesday night to ensure they were near the front of the queue when it opened.
As part of adhering to COVID-19 protocols, the branch allows only a limited number of people inside. Similar queues were also seen at the Sassa office in Eerste River.
Sassa’s Regional Executive Manager, Bandile Maqetuka, says a booking system has been implemented for grant beneficiaries. This is an effort to make operations smooth.
