Former Sassa officials in court for R700mn fraud

Former Sassa boss Edward Makiwane and other government officials have appeared in court on fraud charges.

They allegedly defrauded the government of about R700-million.

Colonel Katlego Mogale from the Hawks reported the three implicated former-government officials and the Trifecta group of companies appeared in court on charges of fraud and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.

Mogale said the suspects were implicated in contract fraud and bribery going back to 2006.
