A woman is traumatized after she was kidnapped and repeatedly raped over 19 days. The woman said her horrific ordeal started on 4 July, when she got a lift from three men she met at a filling station in Tzaneen, Limpopo.
She said she thought they would drop her off near her house but they kidnapped her and turned her into a s.e.x slave.
The 26-year-old farmworker said she had earlier been shopping at Tzaneen Mall.
After being held captive for 19 days, she found herself dumped in the bushes in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, on Friday 23 July. She said she didn’t know how she got there.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the victim told police she lived on a farm near Tzaneen.
“According to her statement, she was hitchhiking from the R71 Sasol garage opposite the Tzaneen Lifestyle Mall on 4 July,” he said.
“A blue private car stopped and three men gave her a lift.”
Mojapelo said the woman was driven to a place she had never seen before.
He said cases of rape and kidnapping were opened but the identities of the suspects were unknown.

Mojapelo warned that hitchhiking is not safe and said people should use safer transport like taxis and buses.
However, the SunTeam established there was no public transport to most of the farms around Tzaneen.

“Her story highlights the plight of women in rural areas who don’t have access to safe transport.
