SA’s netball team praised for its resilience

The Proteas netball team assistant coach, Dumisani Chauke has praised her team for their resilience as they bounced back from their recent loss against Jamaica at the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town. The South Africans thrashed Trinidad and Tobago 69-28 on Monday evening. This is despite facing a setback earlier with the injury of Lenize Potgieter.

The 29-year-old was permanently replaced by Sesandile Olwethu who made her World Cup debut against the islanders.  The Proteas will face New Zealand on Wednesday.

She has been a prominent member of the team. A strong anchor as well it is quite a blow but we do have players that are well capable of carrying on with the job. We have selected a few players that we know should we have injuries can fill in [the] slot nicely.

“We were quite fortunate to give everyone a run on the court today. So, losing Lenize is something big for the team. However, she is still around supporting the girls and making sure the team stays together.
