SARS exceeds revenue collection estimates

SARS has exceeded the latest revenue collection estimate set in February’s budget by R38-billion. collected R1,250-trillion in the 2020 financial year. SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter said apart from the slightly improving economy, the renewed collection efforts by the revenue services must be acknowledged.

All major tax categories, including VAT, personal tax and corporate tax beat revenue towards the end of the financial year.
