Ramaphosa gets green light to appoint new Sars commissioner

The North Gauteng High Court has given President Cyril Ramaphosa the green light to hire a new Sars commissioner.

This after judge Hans Fabricius upheld Ramaphosa’s decision to fire former Sars Commissioner Tom Moyane.

Ramaphosa sacked Moyane on the recommendation of the Nugent commission’s interim report.

Moyane attempted to, through court action, remain the suspended Sars commissioner until the outcome of the case into his conduct.

The North Gauteng High Court has dismissed with costs his application to overturn his axing.

Ramaphosa has welcomed the court judgment, saying it’s a step towards stabilising the revenue collector.
