Social media reacts to the murder of Sandile Tembe

Late AKA’s legion of fans, The Megacy, and South African music lovers at large, are looking everywhere for answers about the rapper’s murder, so much so that they are now linking crime fighter Sandile Tembe’s murder to the Last Time rapper’s death.
According to SABC News on Sunday, 5 March, Sandile Tembe — a prominent member of the Manguzi Community Policing Forum was shot dead near his home in Manguzi on the northern KwaZulu-Natal north coast.
The 32-year-old was the nephew of the Tembe Clan Chief Mabhudu Tembe. He was also at the forefront of the fight against the cross-border syndicate smuggling 4×4 vehicles and stolen goods across the border into Mozambique.
In a tweet on Sunday, the KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube expressed heartfelt condolences to the Tembe Royal family following the murder of Sandile Tembe.
The tweet prompted many Twitter users to respond; linking the murder to AKA’s death.

When the Fela in Versace hitmaker was gunned down along with his friend and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, many conspiracies emerged — including claims that business tycoon Moses Tembe ordered the hit.
The wealthy businessman is the father of AKA’s late fiancée, Anele “Nelli” Tembe, who fell to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel on Loop street in Cape Town in April 2021.
After the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) declined to prosecute the rapper, the Tembes responded with a scathing letter in June 2022 accusing the 35-year-old musician of killing their daughter.
The Tembes’ claims in the letter, first published by City Press last month, further fuelled claims that Moses Tembe had motive to murder the rapper. However, the 60-year-old rubbished the claims in an interview with the Sunday Times in February; saying they are damaging.
