SANDF to buy its own COVID-19 vaccines

South African National Defence Force has been in talks with the Chinese Embassy to buy vaccines. The details are contained in minutes from a meeting of the South African Medical Health Services Vaccination Coordinating Council.

The SA National Defence Union threatened to take the Surgeon General to court – because military health workers were not included in the government’s vaccine roll-out.

So far, the National Health Department has vaccinated over 180,000 healthcare workers. Meanwhile, 599 more COVID-19 infections were reported over the last 24 hours in South Africa. SA’s COVID-19 death toll is at 52,196.
