SANBS calls for blood donations

Just one unit of blood could save up to three lives. However, the South African National Blood Service is running critically low on stock.

The organisation is now calling on South Africans to donate and possibly save a life. The Blood Service says it currently has less than 2,5 days’ supply of O-positive blood. Those with B-plus and AB-minus blood types are also urged to make their way to their nearest donation centres.

It takes less than 30 minutes to donate blood — that’s half an hour to help save three lives.

To find out how to become a donor and where to go, visit the website at sanbs.org.za or simply phone 0800 119 031.
