SAMA 2019 hosts announced

Johannesburg – The new hosts of the upcoming South African Music Awards (Sama) will be Broadcast veteran Bob Mabena and news reader Melanie Bala.

The Samas revealed the pair who will be hosting the 25th edition of the ceremony, which is set to take place this weekend in Sun City, North West on Tuesday morning.

This year’s event will be reminiscent of the 90s, the early 2000s and the now. The viewers are in for a night of nostalgia, joyous reunions and euphoria, according to the event organisers.

Bob and Melanie used to the 1990 popular music show Studio Mix and are back to recreate that magic.
According to a statement by the organizers, award-winning broadcaster Twasa Seoke and hip-hop artist Khuli Chana will also have hosting duties on the night and will relive the moments that made the 2000s such a vibrant period.

Former child star Hulisani Ravele will host the untelevised night of the awards.

RiSA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi said, “We couldn’t have thought of a better way to mark this huge milestone than turning to the stars that contributed so much to popular culture, for which music is a big component, if not the main driver. These names are synonymous with cool and we are honoured to have them grace this big stage and we have every faith in them that they will engender a spirit of celebration and recognition at South Africa’s biggest music award ceremony.”

The show will be broadcast live on 1 June on SABC1 at 20:00.

Tickets to the show are available at Ticket Pro for R415.
