Salim Karim says tougher COVID-19 restrictions needed for Gauteng

Gauteng is not coping with the third Covid-19 wave, and tougher restrictions need to be implemented.
This is according to former Ministerial Advisory Committee head, Salim Abdool Karim.
He says aside from the province reporting the bulk of new infections, it’s also experiencing challenges at some of its hospitals.
The country recorded over 8,000 new infections in the last 24-hour period, and over 4,000 of those were in Gauteng.
