The client has grown into a leading import-export business, working with blue chip manufacturers from around the world. We are a B2B company; importing and exporting a wide variety of chemical products across the lubricants, paint, plastic, water treatment, construction and building industry. The client is growing exponentially and we are looking for driven and hard working individuals to join our sales team in Johannesburg. This immediate hire is for a Sales Manager, based in Johannesburg, who will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Sales Manager and Operational Manager, all based in the Head Office in Durban. The Sales Manager will have managerial, sales and business development responsibilities for the Southern Africa region.
Responsibilities:
Managerial
Manage sales personnel across the Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town region: sales activities, their growth within the business, monthly and quarterly performance reviews, target setting
Motivate staff to consistently perform, objective setting, coaching and performance monitoring
Play an integral part in the recruitment of new staff for the Johannesburg office
Working with the Head Office, constantly updating internal and external processes to make them more efficient
Responsible for the profitability of the Johannesburg office
Ensure that sales personnel are tracking/ recording their movements on our sales system
Generate monthly and quarterly performance and profitability reports
Sales and Business Development
This individual will be managing the sales operations for Johannesburg and Southern Africa
Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully managing the sales team
Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs
Maintain existing customers: customer visits, orders, delivery of products etc.
Responsible for building out business in Johannesburg and Southern Africa
Key point of contact for any customer escalations
Designing and implementing strategic sales plans and solutions that expands company’s customer base and ensures it’s strong presence
Research and implement a new sales CRM system
Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team
Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status
Identify missing structures and policies within the company and draft and implement these across the whole business
Experienced required:
Minimum BCom/ Honours degree in business or a related field
Successful previous experience as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets
Proven managerial experience of a sales team
Previous knowledge of paint, plastics, water treatment, construction, building or lubricants industry
Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
Strong business sense and industry expertise
Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills
This individual will be expected to spend a portion of their time on the road meeting customers. Thus, we are only looking for individuals who have their own transport. We will compensate for the kilometers they have travelled over company time.
