Saftu backs striking workers

The South African Federation of Trade Unions General Secretary Zwelinzima says they are in solidarity with striking Transnet workers. Vavi says Saftu rejects, in the strongest form, the 3% wage offer made by the government.

Meanwhile, billions could be lost if the Transnet strike is prolonged. The Steel and engineering body SEISFA is urging unions and Transnet to resolve the damaging wage strike.

Thousands of workers have downed tools at Ports and Transnet Rail after rejecting a 4% increase offer.
