SADC special summit on Mozambique to begin

An extraordinary SADC Summit will be held on Tuesday with a special focus on the Mozambique crisis.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will chair the meeting in Pretoria.

The SANDF was deployed to Mozambique earlier this year to help fight terror threats in the country’s north.

The total cost of the deployment is over R980-million.

The summit will also look at the way forward as the SANDF deployment in the Cabo Delgado province is ending on the fifteenth of October.

5 October also marks four years since militant groups and Mozambican security forces first clashed.

Hundreds of people have been killed since.
