SAA reaches salary agreement with some employees

South African Airways has reached an agreement with four unions, and non-unionised members to pay three months of deferred salaries.

The workers will receive a 5.9 percent increase backdated to April this year and a pro-rata savings towards a 13th cheque.

The National Union of Mineworkers, SA Cabin Crew Association,as well as the SAA Pilot’s Association have not accepted the agreement.

However, the Department of Public Enterprises says individual members of these unions are welcomed to come forward should they wish to accept the offer.

The department also said that the money it received from the government will be used to restructure the airline.
