SA-Zimbabwe water deal to ensure supply exceeds demand in Musina

The water and sanitation department has signed an agreement with the Zimbabwean government that could bring relief to some Limpopo residents.
The agreement between is to transfer water from the Beitbridge water treatment works to Musina in Limpopo.
The initiative is expected to form part of a plan to address the continuous water challenges in Musina.
The area has often been at the centre of service delivery protests as frustrated residents demand a permanent solution to the longstanding water crisis.
Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu says the agreement is a good place to start.
“This is not only access to water, but it’s access to clean treated water. The supply is going to be bigger than the demand. In other words, the availability of water is going to be higher than the demand in Musina.”
