SA unemployment rate rises to 35.3% in Q4 of 2021

South Africa’s unemployment rate has risen to 35.3% in the fourth quarter of 2021. The expanded jobless rate, which includes discouraged workers not seeking employment, rose to 46.2%.
Up to 12.5 million people are out of work, according to the expanded definition of unemployment.

Declining response rates (from an average of 76,9% in Q2:2020 to a low of 44,6% in Q4:2021) required additional evaluation of reliability of estimates,leading to a delay in the publication of the results
