SA records second monkeypox case

The Health Department is calling for vigilance after the country’s second case of monkeypox has been identified. The second patient is a 32-year-old male from Cape Town. The first case was identified in Johannesburg last week.
The department says monkeypox is less contagious than smallpox and causes less severe illness. People experiencing symptoms are urged to report to their nearest healthcare centre.
The public is being warned to observe good hygiene practices and other preventative measures.
