SA lockdown: South Africa can expect increased police visibility – Police Minister Bheki Cele

Police Minister Bheki Cele says police officers are going to increase their visibility to ensure proper implementation of regulations announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

“This will include police visibility, roadblocks, and patrols. Where applicable malls, streets, and other areas where people ignore social distancing protocols,” Cele said.

On Sunday, Ramaphosa announced that the country would remain on Level 3 of the lockdown. Cele also urged South Africans to adhere to the lockdown regulations.

Ministers who serve in the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster of the National Coronavirus Command Council briefed the media on Wednesday, outlining the new regulations.
