SA lockdown – SANDF & SAPS accused of misconduct

A family in Alexandra is mourning a loved one after SANDF members allegedly walked into their home and fatally assaulted him.
On Friday, two families reported separate incidences of violence at the hands of SAPS and SANDF officers.
One in Alexandra said SANDF members entered their home while they were eating and began searching for alcohol.
Upon finding a single beer bottle in the fridge, one family member said the deceased man and his brother were taken outside while the women SANDF members called for back-up.
The men were beaten by the soldiers who arrived later.
The deceased man reportedly was alive for a few hours after the beating before he died at home.
The SANDF said they were awaiting an incident report before they could comment on the allegation.
Another family reported in Westbury an assault, reportedly by SAPS offices.
The police could provide no comment on the story without a formal complaint being laid.
