Teachers guilty of s.e.xual misconduct will be fired under new rules

Teachers found guilty of serious charges including s.e.xual abuse will be fired.

The Basic Education Department has gazetted new terms and conditions for teachers.

Those found guilty of s.e.xual misconduct will never be able to work for a public school in South Africa again.

Teachers found guilty of bribery can only be eligible to apply for posts again after a five-year period.

And those found in possession of illegal drugs face a lifetime ban.

The new rules were gazetted on Friday.
