Nelson Mandela Bay runs risk of running dry

Recent rain has brought some relief to Nelson Mandela Bay’s dams, but it’s not enough as the region faces the real possibility of running dry.

The Nelson Mandela Bay metro has introduced strategies to tackle drought conditions and water scarcity issues and encouraged residents to use water sparingly.

The region’s dams are nearly empty and they are unlikely to receive any significant rain in the coming months.

The Eastern Cape’s catchment areas are entering their dryest time of the year.
