Premier Soccer League

Rundown of #Ndorogate #NdoroSaga

In case you are still confused with what is going on with the case after case between Ajax Cape Town and Premier Soccer League under the social media hashtag #NdoroSaga.

Well, the fight goes back to the last term of 2017/18 when the season was drawing closer and return of Tendai Ndoro who made a short move to South Arabia having made few appearances in there respectively.

Ndoro signed in the dotted line for urban warriors upon his return to South Africa. Ajax Cape town used his service for several seasons finales.

Tendai Ndoro

Three teams in particular supersport united, Polokwane city and Platinum stars lodged a complaint which was upheld and handed down by Adv Judge Mokhare in their favour.

Ajax Cape Town FC were charged with several counts of misconduct arising from the club fielding Mr. Ndoro in various matches.

The Court ruled that Ajax Cape Town were guilty of breaching SAFA and Fifa Regulations relating to their fielding of their star player Mr. Ndoro.

Adv. Mokhari awarded the matches played by Ajax Cape Town against Platinum Stars, Polokwane City and Supersport United to those clubs with a 3-0 scoreline.

In addition, Ajax Cape Town were fined a total of R 350 000.00.

Conversely, Ndoro took part when  Ajax won 2-0 against supersport united, 1-1 draw with Polokwane city and a 3-1 thriller against Platinum Stars.

The Zimbabwean star player was also barred from taking part in two of the official upcoming league games.

According to the World Football Governing body, FIFA’s Article 5 of the regulation and transfer of Players, Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season.

During that period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping seasons may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs.

Contrary to the case of Tendai Ndoro and PSL.

The south Arabian football league occur in the same calendar with Premier soccer league of South Africa. Both start in August and complete between may and June.

According to the rules Ajax would have been not guilty if the league in South Arabia and South Africa do not play simultaneously.

Henceforth, the article further state that a player may not play official matches for more than two clubs competing in the same national championship or cup during the same season, subject to stricter individual competition regulations of member associations.

The ruling altered with the original premier league log because three-point and goals had to be added to the plaintiffs as ordered by the arbitrator. As a results Supersport united unseated  Amazulu FC from their top eight spots.

The judgment automatically relegated Ajax and subsequently gave platinum stars another chance to fight their way back into the PSL through playoffs.

However, Ajax were given a lifeline last week as their appeal in Gauteng High Court was successful.

The sitting judge Denise Fischer of   South Gauteng High Court ruled in favour of Ajax Cape Town.

Meanwhile, the Judge referred the matter to the Fifa Players’ Status Committee to make a final ruling on the issue.

PSL has since convoked an emergency meeting of the league’s board members and immediately deciding that they will, in fact, appeal the ruling instead of choosing the recommended route by Judge Denise Fischer.

In a statement read by the league’s chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza.

“We arrived at a conclusion that the judgment that was handed down must be appealed,”

“The facts and the details  must be referred to the Board of Governors who will convene an emergency meeting next week.”

The PSL board members will hold its contractive meeting on Thursday 12 July.
