ANC says Reuben Brigety’s comments unfortunate & uncalled for

The ANC has described comments made by the US Ambassador to South Africa, Reuben Brigety, as unfortunate and uncalled for.
This comes after he accused the South African government of supplying arms and ammunition to Russia amid the Ukraine war.
The party’s First Deputy Secretary-General, Nomvula Mokonyane, says Brigety is trying to interfere with organizational processes and decisions.
“It was an unfortunate posture by the US Ambassador and for him to try and interfere with the organizational programmes and processes and decisions of the ANC.
“We don’t arrive at resolutions overnight, but it becomes a protracted process,” Mokonyane said.
She said the party is looking forward to meeting with Brigety.
“He knows how to relate with the South African government but he also knows how to relate as we are meeting with all diplomats, those who wish to meet with the African National Congress and we’re looking forward to meeting him in the foreseeable future as we’re meeting with everyone,” Mokonyane said.
“It was an unfortunate behaviour, uncalled for.”
