President Cyril Ramaphosa says he won’t respond to insults

President Cyril Ramaphosa told MPs that he refuses to respond to some of the criticism levelled against him during this week’s SONA debate.

He says the focus should be on constructive criticism from MPs, not on insults about his attire. Ramaphosa responded to questions on last week’s address.

“I need to respond to insults that were lodged here because in the end, the insults do not contribute to a meaningful debate about the challenges our country faces,” he said.

Instead, I am motivated to reflect on constructive criticism.
