Interest rates to remain unchanged – expert

Economist Jannie Rossouw expects the South African Reserve Bank to keep interest rates unchanged. The Reserve Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee is expected to decide on the repo rate next week.

“I expect that the reserve bank will keep interest rates unchanged. We have already had three interest rates cuts this year and in my view, the Reserve Bank will wait to see what the effect of those cuts is”, said Rossouw.

In April, the MPC cut the interest rate by 100 basis points, taking the repo rate to 4.25% per annum.
