Concerning low youth voter registration turnout

It is voter registration weekend and many unregistered voters are being urged to register for next year’s general elections.

Various civil organizations and some political parties have come up with strategies to entice young people to register. These include using free concerts and cell phone apps as platforms.

Low voter engagement by young people has always been a concern in past election periods. Why do young people shy away from registering to vote? In addition, what more can be done to entice them to participate? We spoke to Tessa Dooms, political analyst and Director at Rivonia Circle.
