Red Arrows seek to open gap at top of MTN Super League

There will be a full round of matches in the MTN Super League this weekend as early season leaders Red Arrows travel to Konkola Blades on Saturday hoping to open up a gap between themselves and the rest. Arrows, who were champions two seasons ago, have taken 17 points from their first eight games and lead by one over second-placed FC MUZA.
Blades are sitting third bottom with a single win (D3 L4) and will be desperate for some home success to take them up the table. MUZA go to NAPSA Stars in a tricky away day but having won three of their last four (D1) will be confident of three points.
Stars have lost only one of their last six though and the last four meetings between the sides have yielded a win each and two draws.
Kabwe Warriors have had a fantastic start to the campaign and lie in third after winning four of their last seven games (D3). They go to ZESCO United, who had a rocky start to the campaign but have now taken 11 from the last 15 points available.
Fourth-placed ZESCO are unbeaten at home this season (W3 D1) and have won five of the last six meetings between the sides (D1). Warriors have not won any of their last 15 league visits to their opponents.
Champions Power Dynamos have yet to really get going this season but have been strong on their own patch (W3 D1). They languish in seventh, and one place above them are Sunday’s opponents ZANACO.
Both meetings between the pair last season finished goalless, so the question is whether anyone can make a breakthrough this time round.
Nkana FC are still searching for a first win of the season as they sit rooted to the bottom of the table with three points from a possible 24 so far. Next up is a trip to Prison Leopards, but having lost all four of their away games so far, they need a change in luck.
Other matches on Saturday see Mufulira Wanderers host Forest Rangers, Nkwazi welcome Mutondo Stars and second-bottom Trident, who are also winless, travel to Green Eagles. Green Buffaloes will play host to Kansanshi Dynamos on Sunday.
