Nomzamo Mbatha’s recent Cosmopolitan cover that highlights her as an activist has sparked a debate on social media with tweets trolling her, claiming that she gets paid for her philanthropic work and to make appearances.
Nomzamo responded to one tweep that did not agree that the actress is an activist, Nomzamo slammed claims calling her statement a false report: “Sisi, I’m saddened at your unfounded and completely untrue statement. I do not get paid to advocate and show up for the causes I believe in. If you’re looking for a pretty face in the public eye that stands for nothing, I’m not the one. You’re spreading lies! I hope you’re proud”.

Ntsiki Mazwai was amongst those ranting against Nomzamo being labelled an activist. Asserting that Nomzamo makes money from her humanitarian work, the poet is convinced that the actress does not do it out of the goodness of her heart but rather has a government connect that pays Nomzamo for her appearance as well.
