SA Lockdown: Fikile Mbalula takes aim at Rea Vaya bus services

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula is threatening to cease operations at Rea Vaya bus service. This for not following the lockdown regulations. Mbalula is visiting Soweto to inspect safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. He says he will meet with the service provider’s management.
“I am not happy with the execution and that is why after this meeting, we will meet with people who are running these buses so that we ensure that there are marshalls inside the buses and stations so that people are able to keep social distancing.
CLEAN AND SAFE TRANSPORT
The inspection is in regards to adherence to a set of stringent safety measures inclusive of effective execution of social distancing, wearing of masks and disinfection of buses & stations.
