Rain destroyed Ekurhuleni informal settlement

Rain continues to batter parts of Gauteng and in the informal settlement of Villa Lize in Ekurhuleni, homes are flooded as a result.

The non-existent roads have simply turned into a muddy affair.

Basic services are almost non-existent in the area and live wiring from Illegal electricity connections lies in puddles of water as persistent rain has flooded homes.

Some yards have been completely waterlogged.

The Ekurhuleni MMC for Human Settlements paid a visit to the affected residents and it wasn’t the warmest welcome.

Ekurhuleni Human Settlements MMC Lesiba Mpya says a public meeting will be held next Saturday where a host of service delivery problems will be discussed between the government and community.
