Report recommends Rahima Moosa Hospital CEO be removed

The Health Ombud and the Minister of Health Joe Phaahla released a report on Rahima Moosa Hospital on Tuesday.
Health Ombudsman Professor Malegapuru Makgoba interviewed 34 people on the state of the hospital.
Makgoba said Gauteng needs to rise its criteria for appointing hospital CEOs.
The report showed that CEO Nozuko Mkabayi was barely at work.
According to Makgoba, Gauteng is the only province where CEOs get suspended,
He says competency tests have also been ignored when making appointments at some hospitals.
Meanwhile, Ashley Sauls — the first person to upload videos about the conditions at the onto social media — said everyone not doing a proper job at the facility must be held accountable.
The video showed pregnant women lying on the floor.
Sauld was the Johannesburg Health and Social Development MMC at the time.
“It should not just end with the report,” he said.
“Every citizen must be prioritized and let’s not scapegoat one person. That’s how we are going to clean up the system.”
Public Health activist Mark Heywood said he’s not surprised by Makgoba’s report.
Heywood further said he fears that just like the Life Esidimeni report, the recommendations of the report will not be implemented.
