Popular radio host opens up on battle with mental health

Media personality and radio host DJ Ankletap recently opened up about his battle with mental health.
The host of YFM’s flagship show YMornings, who checked himself at a facility two weeks ago, has revealed that he was taking it one step at a time.
“Today marks two weeks since I got admitted, and it somewhat feels like I have hit a brick wall again. Getting my mental health in order is not easy, but I will continue with this journey. To all those suffering from heartbreak, depression or mental health issues, just know that you are not alone and stay strong,” he said.
Real name Bryce Clark and better known as Malume, the seasoned broadcaster also revealed that Thursday was his last day at the facility.
“This was the most important decision I have ever made,” he said, thanking everyone who had supported him.
After two weeks off-air, DJ Ankletap made a comeback on Friday, revealing that he did not use the option he was given to only come back on Monday.
“I was given the option to take an extra day off and come back on Monday, but I’d much rather kick-start your weekend in the right way,” he said.
The presenter is not the only Mzansi personality who has opened up about their battle with mental health.
Musician Sibusiso Mhlongo, best known as DJ Merlon, recently revealed that he had been battling depression, which was due to the impact of the pandemic on his career.
“Covid-19 came, and lockdown happened with tight restrictions. That affected my music because there were no gigs. It was hard to promote music.
“That caused a strain on my health, and I ended up having depression. But, I’m dealing with it. I hope I will beat this thing,” he said.
