Road Traffic Management Corporation says R250 is an existing fee

Despite outrage at the R250 fee to renew your licence, the Road Traffic Management Corporation says the confusion arises from a simple misunderstanding. The RTMC says this is an existing fee paid online and not at the licensing centre.

It says this will reduce the time spent waiting to pay. However, you will still need to verify yourself by your fingerprints at licensing centres.

We understand the hardship that people are currently going through, we don’t want to add a burden on them,” said RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane. What we are seeking to do is to streamline our services, bring about greater efficiency [and] bring convenience to the public when they transact with us and our DLTC’s. That is all we’re seeking to do.
