R1 million worth of drugs seized in Robertsham, cook arrested

Johannesburg – Drugs worth an estimated R1 million have been found during a raid on a residential property in Robertsham, South of Johannesburg.

The Intelligence drive operation included the National Office Drug Task Team, The Hawks and other law enforcement agencies. One man was found on the property and arrested earlier today.

Man arrested for cooking drugs

SAPS crime intelligence acted on a tip off that Crystal Meth and Cat were being cooked up and sold on that property. One man was found in a back room making the drugs and was arrested on the spot.

They recovered several pieces of equipment used in the processing of the drugs as well as bags of drugs already processed and ready for the market with an estimated value of over R 1million.

Gauteng Police Spokesperson Kay Makhubele who was on the scene said that he believed the man is not working alone and they will trace the other people he is working as it is not possible that he could manufacture that much drugs alone. “Even though this is a national lockdown, this is not an opportunity for drug dealers to ply their trade.”

Community members were shaken as they were unaware they lived with an alleged drug lord in their midst.

The suspect will soon appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
