The CSIR has a vacancy for a Quality Co-ordinator in the Transport Infrastructure Engineering impact area within the Smart Logistics cluster. The Incumbent will be assisting the Transport Infrastructure Engineering laboratories with management and maintenance of all quality checks, laboratory procedures and ensuring compliance to the laboratories requirements of ISO 17025. This position is based in Pretoria.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure all methods, reports, external documents, procedures and forms are controlled and reviewed according to a set schedule;
Ensure that all equipment is calibrated, SOPs are written and updated, personnel are trained, training matrix records are updated and ensure that the SOPs, protocols and work instructions (WIs) are being followed;
Draw up and monitor calibration schedules – such as those for balances, thermometers, ovens and weights;
Draw up and monitor internal audit schedules and ensure follow up audits are conducted;
Raise non-conformances arising from internal audits and customer complaints;
Record complaints and schedule follow ups as and when required;
Draw up proficiency testing schedules, record results, raise non-conformances for outliers;
Index, file, secure and maintain all quality management system records;
Schedule monthly departmental quality meetings and annual management reviews, record and distribute minutes, action and follow up on these actions;
Participate in giving quality feedback during meetings in the form of a presentation;
Conduct annual customer satisfaction surveys, record results and raise non-conformances when unsatisfactory performance is noted;
Make sure samples are managed as per the set quality criteria, while following laboratory protocols for the handling and storage of incoming and outgoing material.
Responsible for implementing, reviewing and revising of process documentation
Compiling and updating weekly and monthly quality KPI graphs;
Assist with administrative aspects of ensuring lab equipment and accessories are bought and managed accordingly; assist the lab in terms of general SHEQ compliance;
Liaise with both internal and external clients.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
A National Diploma in a Quality related qualification with at least three years’ experience in managing an ISO 17025 quality management system;
Three years’ experience in a laboratory environment;
Experience in stakeholders interaction;
Knowledge of SANAS accreditation process and care, calibration and maintenance of equipment;
In-depth knowledge of the Quality Management System;
Knowledge of the requirements of SANS 17025;
Excellent Microsoft office skills;
Good interpersonal and team skills;
Ability to work independently as well as in an interdisciplinary team;
Problem-solving and solution-seeking orientation;
Must have good communication and writing skills;
Reliable and possess good work ethics.
