Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane fights impeachment in court

The Public Protector has filed papers in the Western Cape High court to interdict her suspension and parliament’s impeachment process from proceeding. Busisiwe Mkhwebane argues that the president is conflicted and is not in a position to suspend her.

Mkhwebane says Ramaphosa is the subject of a number of her investigations and that the president has already agreed not to suspend her pending the outcome of the urgent court application.
