Municipalities are collecting less money, but have to deliver more services, according to Cooperative Governance Minister, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
Dlamini-Zuma was briefing the National Council of Provinces on government’s response to COVID-19 on Tuesday. The minister says the provision of water to schools will be prioritised.
“National provinces have had to pitch in and even in the schools’ water and sanitation is a problem and those are one of the things that have to be sorted out before the schools can be opened,” she said. Grade 7 and 12 will be the first group of pupils expected to start learning on 1 June.
