ProVerb celebrates being in the game for 14 years. Legendary Rapper Tebogo Sidney Thapelo Thekisho widely known by his stage name ProVerb recently celebrated 14 years since the release date of his debut album “The book of ProVerb”.

ProVerb started his career as a rapper in 1999 however he was not widely recognized until 2005 when he debuted his first album. This album became the cornerstone of his success and it showed many young rappers in South Africa that there was an industry available for them. The album also led to him being selected to represent South Africa at the Global Hip Hop Summit in 2005.

The music artiste posted on twitter a video where he describes the album as “the genesis of his career.” So, let’s rewind and look at how far the now tv presenter, rapper and business mogul has come.

His first album was followed by four more albums namely Manuscript in 2006, Write of Passage in 2009 and Fourthwrite in 2012. Each album showing growth along the way.

ProVerb has managed to remain relevant in an industry where many artistes rise and fall, and this could be attributed to his versatility which earned him the “Hustler of the Year” award at the 2015 South African Hip Hop Awards. This award came after a 10-year award dry spell.

“I have been nominated every time. At one point even in Nigeria, but I have never won an award of any kind in my life until now. You know something, I am humbled and grateful the hip hop community has given me the vote of confidence,” the rapper shared in an interview.
