Job Description Summary: The Programme Manager is responsible for growing the industry supported skills-building program in South Africa, in close coordination with the Executive Director, participating industry stakeholders and quality, certified, training service providers, to reach objectives and successful outcomes of the program.
Principal Accountabilities: Program administration: Lead the day-to day-general administration of Academy. Assist management in interaction with collaborating travel and tourism industry stakeholders to identify skills gaps and map these to employment opportunities in the industry. Assist management in developing the policies and guidelines necessary to successfully deliver and grow Academy. Implement strategic priorities defined for the Academy. Identify, secure and manage resources required to deliver objectives of the Academy, primarily. Ensure quality and accuracy in the calculation of project costs and management of the same.
Ensure compliance with deadlines established for the delivery of Academy objectives. Ensure Academy compliance with relevant, local legislation and tax requirements. Monitor closely and report on progress of the Academy’s training for employment projects
Collaborate with Finance and Legal teams supporting Academy, to ensure delivery of reports they require to finalise auditing and credit reporting processes, within established deadlines. Planning and delivery of projects.
Planning, Monitoring & Reporting: Prepare and manage planning to deliver Academy’s strategic priorities. Manage Academy project’s budget and forecasts, in close coordination with management and finance. Monitor progress closely and report to management on variances from the established planning and or budget and credit generation forecasts, and the reasons for those variances. Report on progress against objectives at established intervals and recommend improvement activities. Develop annual report on objectives achieved and impact. Assist management in developing the Academy communication plan.
Project Delivery and Business Support: Apply the policies and guidelines in the process of growing Academy and securing resources. Manage the process to identify and select training service providers to deliver the skills gap training. Oversee the development of required training curricula by the selected training service providers and validate the training programs with management and the employing businesses. Manage the process to select suitable candidates for the work profiles required, in close coordination with industry businesses and the training service providers. Distribute and monitor use of resources required to deliver objectives of the Academy. Set key business metrics and report on them to management (projects’ performance KPI’s, training service provider effectiveness, etc.)
Assist management in delivering the Academy communication plan to ensure visibility in the industry and to the wider, external audience.
Education and Experience: Postgraduate degree in business or education management or equivalent would be an advantage. Proven experience in project management involving multiple, third party stakeholders. Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations in relation to skills building and/or the travel industry. Knowledge and experience of Excel, Word, PowerPoint computer applications. Travel and Tourism experience. Key Competencies. Management experience in managing a small team. Willingness to travel to site to ensure projects are meeting their objectives.
