Our client who invests in, manages, advises and operates global beverage and luxury hospitality businesses is currently looking to employ a Private Equity Associate (Analyst) to help drive both the financial underwriting of new acquisitions and the efficient financial oversight of our existing businesses.

A successful candidate will possess experience with analyzing financial statements, creating financial models, and assessing the real-time performance of a business.

Key Responsibilities:

Acquisition Underwriting:

Assist principals in assessing the historical financial performance of targets
Assemble detailed financial models for targets that passing an initial screening
Assist principals in performing valuations of targets
Research potential targets that fall within target specifications set by principals

Deal Completion:

Assist principals with financial due diligence
Review and re-assess underwriting based on information learned in diligence
Update financial models with information learned in diligence

Business Operation:

Perform detailed analysis of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for portfolio companies
Assist management teams to understand their performance
Provide analysis that can drive the development of strategic initiatives and operational improvements
Continually assess performance and assist management in executing
Perform ad hoc analysis for portfolio companies that lack the in-house capability

Qualifications and Experience:

Tertiary qualification (degree) non-negotiable
Postgraduate qualification advantageous (viz. Honours or MBA)
5 years’ experience in a similar working environment required
We expect a successful candidate will over time accumulate sufficient industry-specific knowledge and experience to interact closely with the management team of each portfolio company to help each company develop and execute strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
Finance degree is not essential. We encourage graduates from all majors and areas of study to apply, as listed below:

Actuarial Science or Maths or Stats Degree
Accounting Qualification with Articles
BCom (Hons) Investment Management, Accounting, Economics or Business (Accountancy & Finance) Degree
BSc Engineering
BSc Honours
BEng

Key Skills:

Analytical mind that quickly grasps key concepts.
Deep understanding of how to read, assess, and pull apart financial statements.
Financial statement modelling and equity valuation
Ability to plan ahead and manage multiple tasks at once.
Self-motivation and ability to work independently most of the time.
Ability to develop analytical framework and communicate findings and recommendations to management.
Imagination, creativity and an ability to find solutions to sometimes complex challenges.
A sense of urgency and can-do attitude in response to all requests.
Ability to persuasively communicate findings and recommendations to principals, as well as less financially sophisticated managers at portfolio companies
Highly motivated with entrepreneurial drive
Enthusiasm for financial markets
Dynamic, driven, dedicated, determined and disciplined (5 D’s)

Travel:

Will initially spend 30-60 days in California
