Large parts of Pretoria East are without power on Monday morning.
That’s after the collapse of 132kv powerlines that fell on the N4 freeway on Sunday night.
That incident led to the closure of the N4 freeway east between Solomon Mahlangu and Simon Vermooten off-ramps.
Motorists are advised use alternative routes.
The initial assessment is that at least six powerline structures have collapsed and are badly damaged.
The inclement weather is likely to delay the repair work.
The estimated time for restoration is not yet available.
