Hawks say President Ramaphosa is not being investigated for corruption

The Hawks have clarified that President Cyril Ramaphosa is not being investigated for fraud, theft, and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.

The Mail and Guardian on Thursday claimed the Hawks were probing the case, however, the Presidency also denied this.

The Hawks said a complainant approached Limpopo police in January to lodge a complaint against Ramaphosa.

The complainant attached what he said was an affidavit by former Eskom boss Brian Molefe.

However, the Hawks said they were not able to investigate the matter as “the affidavit of Molefe, who has not concluded his testimony to the State Capture commission, hasn’t been made public”.
