Premier Ntuli says crime impacted KZN’s economy

The Kwazulu-Natal government has blamed crime for weakening the province’s economy.

Premier Thami Ntuli shared the observation as the province battles with a growing rate of deadly shootings, hijackings, robberies, and murders.

Ntuli said that this has also dropped investor confidence.

The provincial government and crime-fighting bodies such as police and the Community Policing Forums held talks on how to best address crime.

“Crime in the province has destroyed everything pertaining to economic growth, the issue of job opportunities, we lose investors, and businesses are running out of the province,” said Ntuli.

He said that curbing crime could bring back investor confidence and he urged all communities to form part of the fight.
