Prasa operating without valid safety permit: RSR

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) is operating trains without a valid safety permit according to the Railway Safety Regulator.

RSR said Prasa’s permit, which was issued with special conditions, expired on Tuesday.

It says a new one will only be issued, once it’s satisfied that PRASA’s planned interventions to address safety concerns are carried out

Meanwhile, the rail agency says it requested a safety permit extension but is yet to receive a response.
