Longer power cuts expected this winter

There’s been some respite from scheduled outages recently.

Daytime blackouts have been suspended for a few days.

But, they’re back on Saturday morning as Eskom implements Stage 1.

Energy expert Ruse Moleshe says the relief is just temporary.

She forecasts higher stages as winter demand peaks.

“In terms of demand, we haven’t had a winter that’s very cold at this point.

“We do expect that when winter intensifies, the peak demand will increase.”
