Jessie Duarte: ANC ready to talk with any willing political party

The ANC said its negotiations team is willing to talk to any political party willing to work with them in a partnership or coalition.

It says it has not made any agreements with anyone yet.

The ANC’s NEC is meeting on Sunday in Irene in Pretoria.

The party is expected to reflect on the outcomes of the 2021 local government elections and discuss potential coalition partners.

ANC deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte said, “the direction in which the discussion is taking is the negotiation team of the ANC is given the mandate to talk to any political party that will talk to us.”

“We open the door to talk to anyone who will talk to us in the concept of trying to form partnership or coalitions if we need to and we gave a report to the NEC on who we had discussed with thus far but we also need to indicate that talks are still in the making.”

“We’ve made no arrangement or agreement with anyone except those parties that have agreed to work with the ANC throughout the country where they have a seat.”
