The ongoing murders of councillors and candidates in KwaZulu-Natal have led to nine by-elections taking place.
The ANC’s candidate in Ward 101 eThekwini, Siyabonga Mkhize, was among those killed before the local government elections.
Former councillor Mzimuni Ngiba returns as an ANC candidate after Mkhize’s death.
The IFP — which is also contesting — is worried about the community.
Meanwhile, Police Minister Bheki Cele — who chairs the inter-ministerial committee dealing with political violence — says they are bringing the situation under control.
