Police task team activated after councillor’s murder

The police’s national task team on political killings has been activated, following the killing of NFP councillor in Nongoma, Ntombenhle Mchunu.

The 75-year-old was shot and killed when her house was broken into in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A child survived the shooting but is in a critical condition in hospital.

The NFP say they are saddened by the death of their member and have called on law enforcement agencies to make arrests.

According to the party, this is the second councillor to be attacked and shot.

Three weeks ago councillor Nonhlanhla Zungu survived two attempts on her life.
