The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber has welcomed news of its vice president and local businessman Kelvin Naidoo’s rescue.
Naidoo’s abduction from outside his place of work last Friday made headlines across the country, with reports of a R10 million ransom that was subsequently demanded.
Some six days later, he has now been found alive and rescued.
“We are immensely relieved that Kelvin Naidoo has been returned home to his family. Our prayers and thoughts continue to be with him and his family, and that the healing may begin,” said chamber CEO, Denise van Huyssteen.
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, meanwhile, has commended the Hawks for their work on the case.
“The situation has indeed been nail-biting. We are just as relieved as the Naidoo family over Mr Naidoo’s safe return. The successful rescue of Mr Naidoo is a testament to the unwavering commitment and bravery of our law enforcement officers,” said the police minister’s spokesperson, Kamogelo Mogotsi.
